FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO YOU HAVE HANDICAPPED PARKING?
Parking is not defined and our space is all grass or gravel, so we do not currently have allotted spots for handicapped parking. However, you can usually get close to the Field or talk to someone about holding space if necessary.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN FOOD AND DRINK TO THE FIELD?
We currently have beverages and snacks available for purchase On-site. NO CARRY-INS are allowed. If you plan to drink alcohol at The Stretch, you will need your ID with you at all times. Underage drinking is NOT permitted.
CAN I BRING MY OWN LAWN CHAIR OR BLANKET TO THE FIELD?
Yes. We encourage you to bring your own chairs or blankets to hang out at the field as well as during all events.
ARE DOGS ALLOWED?
Pets are allowed at the Movie Site with a leash and we do ask that you pick up after them. Only service animals are allowed in the Field of Dreams farm house and the event center.
CAN I SMOKE ON SITE?
Smoking is not permitted on-site per State of Iowa law.
WHAT ARE THE DIMENSIONS OF THE FIELD?
The dimensions of the ball field are: 300' to left, 315' to right and just over 350' to the dead center. The infield is regulation size with a 60-foot pitching mound and 90-foot bases.
WHAT KIND OF CORN IS BEYOND THE OUTFIELD?
The corn planted around the Field is “field corn” which is either ground up as feed to animals or processed into human consumed sugars, flours, starch and ethanol. In this region corn is either exported down the Mississippi on barges, or sent to the ethanol plant in Dyersville. Sweet corn is a different variety. It typically doesn’t grow as tall and is a very small market relative to field corn. The corn is typically planted in May and harvested in October and a nearby farm family carefully plants the corn so each row faces the field.

MLB legends from the likes of Wade Boggs, Reggie Jackson, Fergie Jenkins, Andre Dawson, Johnny Bench, Robin Yount and Rod Carew have stepped foot on our serene ball diamond filled with as much joy and excitement as every other visitor. In fact, over 125 celebrities from former MLB players and Hall of Famers to other retired professional athletes, actors and musicians.
WHEN TIME OF YEAR IS THE CORN HARVESTED?
The corn around the Field of Dreams Field is usually harvested in early November. Corn usually is harvested in October, however we keep ours in a weeks later to prolong the look for Dreamers that visit in the Fall.
