MLB AT FIELD OF DREAMS

POSTPONED TO 2021

DATE TBD

Construction began on a Major League Baseball regulation field and stadium in August 2019 with a maximum capacity of 8,000 to host the first-ever regular-season Major League Baseball game in Iowa originally set to feature the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox Thursday, August 13, 2020. With the change in structure of the 2020 MLB to due to the Coronavirus pandemic, The Yankees were replaced with the St. Louis Cardinals to play the White Sox.

Due to the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, the MLB at Field of Dreams presented by GEICO has been postponed to 2021, the date still to be determined. It has been confirmed that one of the teams will be the Chicago White Sox, with their opponent still unknown.

The White Sox were planning to host the game because of their role in the 1989 Field of Dreams movie, in which the ghosts of “Shoeless” Joe Jackson and other members of the 1919 Black Sox play on the diamond in the Iowa cornfield.
